Our approach
Our main aim is to provide you with opportunities to experience for yourself, respond to and discuss different heritage sites and aspects of British culture.
Each encounter will involve these five group activity phases: |

Preparation and task-setting – preparing the words and phrases you need to use and understand in order to gather information during the Site visit. Organising yourselves for the information-gathering task |

Sensing the Site – noting your impressions of the Site and exchanging them with other participants |
| 3. |
Investigating a topic related to the Site – collecting information that relates to the specific nature of the site and contrasting it with similar Sites in the participants’ home cultures |
| 4. |
Identifying an issue related to the site – Interviewing people you meet at the Site and asking their opinions about topics related to the Site |
| 5. |
Presentation of findings – Presenting your findings informally and formally to the whole group followed by feedback from your trainers and group discussion. |
Trainers
John T. Roberts is a seasoned and committed language trainer, facilitator and materials
writer. His academic background is in Art History, Linguistics, Didactics, German and French Language and Literature.
For most of his career he has been involved in adult education. He has lived and worked in Germany and still works there as a visiting trainer and lecturer. He has created and delivered specialist programmes for diplomats, executives, consultants and officers of NGO’s from Europe, South America, the Pacific Rim countries and the Middle East.
Nick Jones is a consultant in education and the environment. His academic training includes architecture, conservation and environmental education. He has taught urban studies in Bath, Bristol and Toronto, trained teachers in England and Germany. He has also entertained learners of English in Europe and Africa, and advised the UK government on education for sustainable development.
Nick and John have collaborated for many years in the field of language, the environment and cross-cultural learning.
